What the heck is a Mudbug, anyway?
A "mudbug"
is a Creole slang term for crawfish. For you northerners, think of them as a
freshwater shrimp or prawns. Unlike the common shrimp, the
Creole mudbugs have a highly developed sense of rhythm, love of music and incorrigible
party habits, due to their proximity to New Orleans. These traits,
while not immediately obvious to the untrained eye, are frequently passed on
to those who ingest a hearty bowl of crawfish etouffee or gumbo.
With a tip of
the hat to our crazy crustacean cousins, the MUDBUG band performs a hybrid of
roots rock 'n roll, power pop and blues with a healthy dose

We proudly announce
the induction of our newest member, drummer extrodinaire, Kirk Allen.
Kirk has extensive touring, stage, studio and production experience,
plus song writing/arranging and vocal skills. Kirk provides a solid "rawk"
feel for our rhythm section, and brings the band to a whole new level. Nice
cowbell, too.
The lord of low frequencies, Cosmo Damien, has performed a variety
of musical styles, including jazz, country rock and speed metal. Prior to joining
Mudbug,
Cosmo performed and recorded with alt-country band, Deadwood. In addition to
his fine fretted and fretless bass chops, Cosmo also makes a mean stromboli.
Dave Patterson
plays guitar and sings for Mudbug. He is largely to blame for the formation
of Mudbug, a relentless taskmaster with highly biased musical
opinions and way too many guitars (none of which are in tune).
Dave has worked with various local bands, including Christy McWilson, the Lloyds,
the Souviners,
as well as recording/producing CDs for Ruby Dee & the Snakehandlers, MJ
Bishop, Russ Salton, The Pants, Grady McDonald and Deadwood.
